Network Support Specialist, 5/95 to Present
- Assisted IS management in capacity planning, resource allocation, purchasing, and deployment of all system and network hardware and software campus-wide.
- Installed, administered, and maintained 3,000+ node 4 campus metropolitan data network.
- Installed, administered, and maintained numerous Novell and Windows NT servers.
- Recommended and installed new products such as MS Office, Netscape Navigator, and tcp3270 that increased productivity for students, staff, and faculty and helped bring TVI into the age of information.
- Installed, administered, and maintained campus backbone servers consisting of a variety Sun servers providing mail, news, compute, testing, development, and other Internet services.
- Developed dynamic account creation utility to allow staff and students the ability to create an e-mail account for them with no outside intervention.
- Developed a user accounting system, which locks accounts if they aren't student, staff or faculty. Also allows help desk to field simple user related trouble calls (lost password, forgotten username, etc).
- Wrote software in C, PERL and SQL to administer and maintain over 4,000 user accounts. The software is used by both the help desk and the other system administrator.
- Acted as a Level IV PC Support Tech, provided hardware and software technical support for escalated help desk problem tickets.
- Installed, maintained, and administered remote dialup access server for staff and faculty.
- Acted as technical reference for TVI Internet Services Guide for TVI students, staff, and faculty.
- Installed, administered, and maintained high traffic World Wide Web server for student, staff, and faculty use.
- Installed, administered, and maintained high traffic firewall server for Internet security using Firewall-1 on a Solaris system and 3COM routers.
- Offered technical support for faculty planning semester lessons on UNIX and Windows NT as well as TCP/IP and Novell networking.
- Acted as postmaster for campus and Internet-wide e-mail system consisting of a Solaris based sendmail relay server and a Novell based Pegasus mail server.
- Configured and maintained USENET news server with approximately 25,000 news groups read by approximately 1000 users.
- Developed and implemented an IP number allocation scheme using IP numbers assigned from the Internic, and derived from RFC 1918.
TWR COMMUNICATIONS
System Administrator, 2/96 to Present
- Designed, implemented, and maintained this ISP from ground up including the WWW server, virtual homes, sendmail configuration, IP allocation scheme, subnetted, Mail hub, DNS, addition, modification, and removal of users, on Novell and UNIX platforms.
- Installed, maintained and supported users on a Novell 4.1 file server for a 150+ line WorldGroup BBS.
LOS LUNAS REALTY
System Administrator, 3/92 to Present
- Designed, installed and maintained a WinNT/Win95 inter-office network, as well as troubleshot hardware and software problems, developed custom software, and provided end-user and administrative training of the network and many applications including day-to-day use of Win95, MS Office, and RealBase (custom application).
ZYNET SOUTHWEST

- Was responsible for software and system installations, upgrades, troubleshooting and resolving system problems, answering user questions, and miscellaneous administration in a heterogeneous platform environment.
